Your
child's regularly scheduled check-up is often referred to as a "cleaning",
but there is much more to it than that - It's not just a cleaning!
Our dental hygienists
will provide excellent services to help your child maintain his
or her dental health for a lifetime. Your cooperation can serve
to maintain his or her dental health for a lifetime. Your cooperation
can serve to maintain optimum dental health. When you bring your
child to our office for regularly scheduled continual care appointments,
the following benefits will result:
-Our dental
hygienists will customize a personal home and preventive care
program for your child, and inform you of those dental products
that are appropriate for his or her particular need. You will
be instructed in the proper methods of tooth brushing, flossing
and using additional dental health products. Your child will also
be given age-appropriate diet instruction, and provided with the
proper information to reduce tooth decay.
-Your child's
teeth will be cleaned and polished to remove plaque and tartar
both below and above the gumline, eliminating bacteria that lead
to cavities, bad breathe, and gum disease. Fluoride will also
be applied to teeth to strengthen the enamel and reduce the risk
of decay.
-Our dental
hygienists may also recommend appropriate radiographs. X-ray films
will be recommended to protect your child's dental health. The
frequency of radiographs is determined by your child's individual
needs. These films help us detect much more than cavities. They
are used to survey erupting teeth, diagnose bone diseases, or
plan orthodontic treatment.
-Sealants
may also be recommended and can be applied to the chewing surfaces
of children's teeth to protect against future decay. This will
be scheduled for a separate dental visit. As long as your child
is current with his or her continual care appointments, we will
re-touch any chipped sealant for no charge.
Home-care recommendations
and instructions will be provided based on your child's individual
needs. The hygienists will provide you with information about what
types of home care your child can manage independently based on
his or her age and about the assistance that you will need to provide
for your child.
Maintaining
regular continual care appointments with our dental hygienists and
follow-ups with Dr. Weiss offers you the assurance that any problems
regarding your child's oral care will be addressed immediately.
